So what is the deal with our amps? Some think that they are best suited for pro audio, some think that they are terrible for stereo applications, some think that they are so overkill that the design itself is questionable as to its viability.
The purpose of our amps is historically rooted in the design standard LDLC. This standard has very far reaching effects, and goes beyond the principal design of our drivers. Simply said, we have used many amplifiers, many DSP processors, and many DACs. Our drivers end up exposing some flaw with the equipment and the resulted quality of audio is then compromised, thus, not fitting our standard for sound quality. All of our amps have Crystal DACs, our rack amps have digital inputs that circumvent the need for an external DAC which saves a vast sum of money if used for an active crossover stereo system. Most stand alone DACs that run Burr-Brown (Texas Instruments) or Crystal are in the very top tier of high end audio and high end hifi. If you add to that the Fr up to 40 kHz, input voltages up to +23 dBu, dynamic range of 118 dB, and 64 bit processing you will easily see that there is very little that these amps can not take. Now extrapolate what this means for your listening experience, really think hard about what this can actually give you. What you should be taking away from some short meditation is that these amplifiers and audio managment systems will hold their ground for a very long time because they are so advanced. Their design principal has remained virtually unchanged since 2010 and there is still a very small segment of tech that truly competes in all parameters.
Why do we suggest that you pair a FWA driver with a FWA or ALLDSP amp? Why not just use what you like?
You are more than welcome to use any amp and DSP system that you wish. However, we have spent years sourcing and creating our amps by testing products and systems and looking for the perfect balance of durability and clean output to compliment our standard of audio and capitalize on the LDLC character of our drivers. Remember, price points and profits do not impact our design process, we are just some guys that love clean audio with presence and depth of character. In reality, we have done all the discovering and finding out for you. Now this does not mean that you will get mistreatment, this means that we can fully support your audio system. If you choose to use an unproven amplifier, we can not guarantee the results that we endorse.
Our amps have built in DSP signal control as well. This is a huge benefit because this gives you signal processing and tuning that is matched to the performance of the amplifier and drivers. This ensures that audio quality factors like THD+N and the noise floor are well behaved and optimal for use up to 40 kHz.
