Hello. This is Cody, the CEO writing this article, well, it's more of a letter to everyone who wants to get a little bit of inside track information from the horse's' mouth.

When I started Harbottle, named "The Harbottle Audio Company" back then, I manufactured drivers with Nathan Funk for OEM and DIY purposes. This market eventually died due to a few complexities, but one in particular; my drivers are hard to design around. Around this time, I came up with the Carbon Series. A finished subwoofer that boasted insane performance with an epic enclosure structure, carbon fiber - balitic birch composite. I landed on two performance iterations, L1 and L2, then eventually adding a L3 to the line up, all of which absolutely crushed. In time, we came up with Cassini, then Cassini Tradition, Cassini Signature, and now Cassini has adopted the Carbon Series into its fold to form Cassini Carbon.
So, what has happened to the beloved and coveted C18L1 and C18L2? Are they dead and gone? The answer is, shall we say, folded, layers are involved.

C18L1, yup, that one is discontinued and gone. We can still support our existing clients with their C18L1 subwoofers, but new production is not part of our future. The question I get most is, "what replaced it?". The answer is nothing. The realities are; the M2 motor had limits that were very hard to justify for our premium subwoofer offering where Cassini Tradition essentially overran its reason for existing. The realities of the M3 motor is that it does the same job only better and with more gusto, so the L1 found itself annexed by perception alone and sales followed - no one bought them.
C18L2. This one still exists, however the L2 designation is toast. Its SKU is C18M3D4A44B... a mouthful. So what is the carbon subwoofer, who is it for, and what is the correct designation?
Cassini Carbon is our pinnacle, the very essence of Harbottle is found within. Highly customizable at this time, with the potential to be refined into different categories as we continue growing. It is for people who have had it with marketing hype, engineering half-measures, and consistently being prodded to "buy more" or "buy bigger, and then buy more". This is for the audiophile that loves being an audiophile, and for the ones that hate the word audiophile. This is for the people that want everything from their audio system, including better sound from their main speakers. They want to learn something, or to learn nothing at all and just know they are being looked after. They want assurances that they do and do not understand with the end of "Upgrade Highway" firmly in view and zero chance of rain in the forecast. In short, they are done with the nonsense.
So what do we call these things? Simple; C18. We size it's power to hit a SPL requirement or sound quality in your room and then it is tagged with your initials in post script. For example, my C12 in my living room is C12-CH.
Now, what about pricing? Well, all AI platforms have it wrong and reference seriously old information. So don't trust it, it's not worth your time. Instead, contact myself or one of my certified representatives for accurate information. This is a custom spec subwoofer, pricing it out for your needs on a case by case basis is part of the gig. If I didn't want to do the work, I wouldn't offer the product in this way.
The punchline of this article is the C18 didn't leave, it got better. Better in ways that seriously affect your outcomes, your wants, your end goals, your end-game. Cassini Carbon - It's your taste and desires embedded in its DNA.
It bears your name.
It's Yours.
